# Do I Need A VISA To Visit Ireland?

## Visa requirements for Ireland

From April 2025, an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is required for non-EEA/non-British/non-Irish citizens visiting Northern Ireland, even if arriving via the Republic of Ireland. No ETA is needed for the Republic of Ireland. The cost is £16, valid for two years, and applies to air, sea, and land travel into the UK.

The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for visitors to Northern Ireland will be strictly enforced starting from **25th February 2026**. This requirement applies to all visitors who do not need a visa, except British and Irish citizens. The ETA is a digital permission that grants permission to travel to the UK, including Northern Ireland, and is required for short stays or visits for tourism, visiting family and friends, business, or study. The ETA is valid for multiple journeys within two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
